Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery
After qualifying as a General Surgeon, Dr Alex Craven completed 2 years of dedicated post-fellowship training in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, through the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric and
Oesophageal Surgery Association (AANZGOSA). He works as an Upper
Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Austin Health, as well as providing
consultation and surgery privately through Advanced Surgical.
Dr Alex provides specialist care for a wide range of diseases affecting the oesophagus, stomach, small bowel and other related organs. Examples include:
- Cancers of the stomach and oesophagus
- Reflux and Hiatus Hernia
- Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours (GIST)
- Achalasia, and other Upper Gastrointestinal conditions
